Microsoft Office 365 Advanced Threat Protection

Microsoft Office 365 Advanced Threat Protection (ATP) is a cloud-based service that helps protect users from malware and other online threats. It analyzes the content of emails and attachments before they are opened, and scans hyperlinks for potential dangers. ATP uses machine learning techniques to identify malicious content and can isolate attachments in a sandbox environment for further analysis. The service also includes a “safe links” feature that checks the content of web pages from hyperlinks in emails and Office documents to prevent phishing and other website-based attacks. ATP generates reports for IT administrators to help them train users to be more vigilant against attacks, and is available as an optional add-on for various Office 365 subscriptions for $2 per user per month. It is also included in the top-tier Office 365 Enterprise E5 subscription. Microsoft considers ATP a complementary service to its Exchange Online Protection (EOP) service, which offers similar features for $1 per user per month.
